- Dear Julie,
- It may interest you to know that James East's daughter, Sarah, who married Lewis Bradberry, also ended up in Georgia. Lewis married Sarah in 1785. The next record I have of them is in the 1820 Georgia census. I think they moved to Wilkes County, NC, then to South Carolina before moving to Georgia. I know of two children, but perhaps they had more. Eli and William Jasper Bradberry, their sons, may have been born in SC. Lewis was granted land there in Georgia (in both Lee and Carroll Counties) for hisservice during the Revoltution.
- I may have more information on James East. I now live in Virginia, only a fifty minute drive to Henry County.
- There are records in the Bassett Library probably not found elsewhere as all the county records from Martinsville, VA were move to Bassett, VA ( and only God knows why since it is a tiny library). If you are so inclined to take long drive from Georgia you may find new information there. I was there 6 or 7 years ago and found many references to James East and the East Family while looking for Bradberry information.
