Biography

I was born in NW Alabama in 1950, but my parents relocated to the Cleveland, Ohio area so my dad could find suitable employment. I was the third of seven children, the oldest daughter. Our lives surrounded school, church, and family.

I knew early on that I wanted to be a teacher. When I was seventeen, I moved to Central Florida to receive my BA in Education. I became active in various ministries on campus. I sang and traveled one year with a Christian Folk Band. This was the time of The New Christy Minstrels, Peter, Paul, and Mary, The Kingston Trio, just to name a few. Our band traveled the east coast of the United States but mostly sang in Florida on the beaches, at county fairs, in the prisons, and at churches.

Upon graduating, I married and began teaching at a Christian School in St. Petersburg, Florida where I stayed for 15 years. Although I wanted to have children, it was only after ten years of marriage that I was blessed to have s son. A large family was never meant to be.

My mother passed in 1986. I realized then that I wanted to be closer to my remaining parent and my siblings. That realization motivated me to move back to NE Ohio. I returned to Ohio in 1987 and continued working in Christian education. I received my M.A. degree and a certificate to be a Christian counselor at church.

In 2002, I moved to Central Ohio to be with Dad in his senior years. We lived in a small lake community, and I worked at the local public school. This was the first time I taught in a public school, and I thoroughly enjoyed living in the same community that I worked.

I am presently retired. I am thrilled to research ancestry. It has brought new energy and purpose to my life. At first, I quickly believed all the connections with which I was made aware. WikiTree, however, has shown me the importance of validity. Now I hope to go back and make corrections. As I do so, please feel free to enlighten me. Accuracy is important to me!

Hi Sharon- I've got an unexplained DNA match to descendants of multiple different lines with common ancestors of James F. Guyton and Sarah J. Warren. I am guessing I'm somehow a descendant of theirs, or a descendant of a sibling at worst.

Do you know of any Guyton relatives that lived around DeKalb County, TN? The DNA matches share common segments with my McGinnis side that lived there.

Hi Sharon!

Joan Allen / Robert Williamson Sr are also my 8th great grandparents as follows:

Their son Francis Williamson - Francis' son Joseph Williamson - Joseph's daughter Elizabeth Williamson - Elizabeth's daughter Pamelia Tyus Pamelia's son Thomas T. Howle - Thomas' son John M Howle - John's son Thomas W Howle - Thonas W Howle's son Clyde Howle Clyde's daughter Marilyn Faye Howle - who is my mom. :)

My uncle Thomas Howle ( Clyde's oldest son) just discovered Bacon's Castle. He sent the information to the family, along with the family tree (he is the genealogist in the family) so we would know how we were related to Author Allen. In reading about it, I saw your comment on Joan & Robert Williamson being your 8th great grandparents... so I thought I would send you a message.

Hi Sharon,

Wow--thanks for letting me know that we are cousins!! How cool! I, too, am loving the work of growing the WikiTree. I've already learned so much, and many things have fallen into place based on my research here. Gratified to see that we are both teachers--that might help explain it. Onward! Erika
