Biography
A charter dated 9th April 1531 at Spott, Haddingtonshire, implementing the terms of the marriage contract between George Hume, son and heir-apparent of George Hume of Spott and Christine Douglas, daughter of Jonet Mathesoun, Lady of Whittinghame, which contract both George Hume senior and Jonet Douglas had agreed to and signed. The charter mentions Elizabeth Liddell, mother of George Hume senior as still living, and William Hume, brother of George senior, as residing at Easter Brounhouse, Haddingtonshire.[1]
