"A former Battle Creek resident, Mrs. Nellie Karker, 81, of 210 Woodruff St., Union City, died this morning at the home of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Wayne Chaffee with whom she had been residing.

"She had been ill for two years.

"Mrs. Karker was born in Cleon Township, Manistee County, May 25, 1866, a daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Chubb) Dobson.

"She was married to Harry A. Karker Feb 22, 1924, in Battle Creek. He died Sept. 30, 1957.

"Mrs. Karker was a life member of Battle Creek Chapter 355, Order of Eastern Star, the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 219, and the First Christian Church.

"She reviving are a sister, Mrs. Lotta Addision of Jackson, a brother Charles R, Dobson of Long Beach, Calif., and a niece." ^[1]
