Biography

Susan Ann Dewey, daughter of Nelson Dewey and Sarah Ann (Harvey) Dewey, was born in 1847 in Rhode Island.^[1] She appeared on the census of 1 August 1850 in the home of her parents at Westerly, Washington, Rhode Island.^[2]

She married Alonzo Morton Smith, son of Prosper Smith and Maria (Cabels) Smith, in 1870.^[1]

She and Alonzo appeared on the census of 7 June 1880 at Westerly, Washington, Rhode Island.^[3] She was a widow when she appeared on the census of 21 June 1900 at Stonington, New London, Connecticut.^[4] She was a nurse when she appeared on the census of 6 May 1910 in the home of her daughter at Stonington, New London, Connecticut.^[5]

Susan died on 27 October 1915 at Waterford, Connecticut^[6] and was buried at River Bend Cemetery, Westerly, Washington County, Rhode Island. Her memorial has a photo and links to those of family members.^[1]
