Notes

Note: The first two of the following FS tree references give wrong parents for Robert, whose parents are clearly named on his marriage record as Nicolas Desmares and Marie Bocquet. Jean Desmarets dit Desnoyers is not the son of Robert and Élisabeth, whatever Tanguay may say about it. Jean is from Orléans in France. Note that place names are incorrect in the following, L'Assomption and not L'Assumption, and it is actually a separate location from Repentigny. Robert and Élisabeth only had 3 children.

  • https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/2:2:M1J8-YB5 does not have sources but it shows Jean Desmarets' or Desnoyers' parents as Robert Desmarets (1662-?) and Elisabeth Richaume (1646-?). It shows Jean's paternal grandparents as Jacques George La Porte (1621-?) and Nicole Duchesne (1641-?). It shows Jean's maternal grandparents as Pierre Richaume (1620-?) and Marthe Arnue (1620-?)
  • https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/2:2:SY9P-8JX also has no sources and shows the same parents for Jean with specific marriage date for Jean's parents of 23 July 1682 at L'Assumption, Repentigny, Quebec. Says Jean's father Robert was born about 1660 at Repentigny. Says his mother Elizabeth was born 31 August 1666 at Chambly, Quebec. Has same maternal grandparents for Jean with a specific marriage date for them of 16 September 1658 at Ile de Montreal, Montreal, Quebec. Shows Jean's maternal great grandparents as Simon Richaume (born about 1610 at Hiers, Brouage, Saintonge, France) and Catherine Belior (born about 1610 at Hiers, Brouage, Saintonge, France) with their marriage in 1635 in Quebec. Shows other set of maternal great grandparents for Jean as Marc Arnue (born about 1610 in LaRochelle, France) and Louise Brodeur (born about 1610 in LaRochelle, France) with their marriage about 1630 in Quebec.
  • https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/2:2:3M42-ZKL has the same parents and cites Tanguay for their marriage on 23 July 1682 at L'Assumption, Repentigny, Quebec. Gives a specific death date for Jean's mother Elizabeth of 4 April 1703, Montreal, Quebec. It also says she married a second time on 16 Apr 1697 to Pierre Moreau in Quebec, Quebec citing Drouin and Tanguay volume 6, p. 88. If true this would mean Jean's father Robert died before 16 Apr 1697. This one has a different set of Paternal grandparents listed as Nicolas Desmarets and Marie Bocquet from St Etienne, Paris, France estimated born 1620 and 1625 respectively and married there about 1645. It says Simon Richaume died 18 Feb 1655 in Quebec. Says Marc Arnue was from the parish of St Sauvier in LaRochelle, and that he died before 1640. Says Louise Brodeur married a second time to Jean Sauviot at St Nicolas in LaRochelle France about 1640 and that she died 27 November 1680 at L'Assumption, Repentigny, Quebec. Says she married Marc Arnue in 1631 at St Sauveur in LaRochelle citing some sort of source for immigration from LaRochelle.
