Note:

• For whatever reason, this Oliver Hillard DENNIS has been confused with Oliver DENISON throughout their history. Most likely it is because the Barbour Collection has an error in it, and has incorrectly listed Oliver DENISON as "Oliver Hillard Denison".
• The same error is repeated in 'Genealogy of The Descendants of William Chesebrough, perhaps due to the above.^[1]
• It's impossible to ask them why, however, it's mostly likely that they thought that DENNIS was a typo, and that Hillard was just missing from Oliver DENISON.

THEY ARE TWO DIFFERENT MEN THAT MARRIED TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE.

• Exploring the distant possibility that Elizabeth Chesebrough did in fact marry Oliver DENISON and had a child named Oliver Denison that perhaps did not survive.^[2]

Birth

Oliver Hillard Dennis was born 29 Feb 1760, to Robert Dennis and Joanna (Hillard) Dennis, in Tiverton.^[3]

Marriage

All records found, that include a last name of the groom, indicate that this Oliver married Elizabeth Chesebrough on Aug. 26, 1781, in the First Congregational Church of Stonington.

Children

No definitive record of any children being born has been found, with the exception of the one mentioned in the opening notes, and that record is in nowise definitive either.

Death

When and where this Oliver (or Elizabeth (Chesebrough) Denison died and/or are buried has not been located as of 20 Sep 2018.
