Biography

Witnesses at their marriage (1811)^[1] were [groom's sister] Margaret Davy, [her husband] Seba Murphy, William Fairfield.^[2]

Father of at least 6 children, according to his Find a Grave memorial: Aurelie, Jane, Henrietta, Benjamin, Peter, Helen.

The Reid book (Loyalists in Ontario)^[3] records that Peter Davey of Ernestown received his Orders in Council in 1810 & 1817.

Peter's obituary, published 26 Aug 1859 in the Weekly British Whig: In Bath, on Monday, 22d instant, Peter Davy, Esq., aged 71 years. Thus has passed away, full of years and honors, beloved by his numerous descendants and respected by every one who knew him, one of the oldest and best inhabitants of Ernestown, the son of a United Empire Loyalist, and the founder of the village of Bath. Mr. Davy was emphatically an honest man, the saying of which is the highest tribute man can pay to man.

Buried at St. John's Anglican Church cemetery, Bath, Ontario.
