Urbain L Daigle is a descendant of an Acadian


1855: Urbain Daigle is born on a spring day May 24 at Pointe Sapin in the Parish of Carleton, which is located in the County of Kent, New Brunswick, Canada. His proud parents are Lazare Daigle and Agnes Robichaud.[1] 1881 and 1906, he lives in Acadieville with his family.

1861: Five year old Urbain is living with his family in Carleton parish, Kent, New Brunswick. His 47 year old father Lazare works as a fisherman and farmer. His 44 year old mother Agnes tends the home. Urbain lives with four siblings: Charles 22, Peter 13, Elizabeth 8, and Ephraim 2.[2]


1871: 14 year old Urbain is living in Carleton parish with his parents Lazarus 58, and Agnes 55, along with his brothers Peter 22, and Ephraim 12.[3]

1877: 31 year old Suzanne Thébaut catches the eye of 22 year old Urbain. Suzanne is the daughter of Grégroire Thébaut and Ursule LeBlanc. The couple weds on the 24th of September.[citation needed] Urbain works as a fisherman and then as a farmer.[4]

1881: Urbain and Suzanne have moved to Acadieville Parish NB. There are two new additions to the family: 2 year old Jacques and 6 month old Jean.[5]

1891: 35 year old Urbain and 45 year old Suzanne are living in Acadieville with their sons 17 year old Jacques and 11 year old Jean. Lodging with them are 20 year old Josephine Gallant and 7 year old Marie Baldon.[6]

1901: 45 year old Urbain and 50 (sic) year old Suzanne are living with their two adult sons in Acadieville. 27 year old Jacques is working on the farm with his father. 21 year old Jean is a blacksmith. There is also a 'sister' Marie A Daigle aged 18, born 15 August 1882. [7] Marie's 1901 marriage record [8] lists her parents as Urbain and Suzanne. Did they adopt her? Is she the Marie Baldon who was living with them in 1891?

1911: The family has moved to St-Louis a few doors down from their son Jean and his young family at the blacksmith's forge. 56 year old Urbain and 65 year old Suzanne are living with their son Jacques. Urbain is a 'laboureur' and Jacques is a 'journalier', both doing odd jobs.[9]

1921: 66 year old Urbain and 75 year old Suzanne have an empty nest. He is still working as a 'journalier.[10]

1927: Urbain dies on June 15 at St-Louis, Kent, New Brunswick, Canada.[11]
