Biography

1880: Jean Daigle is born on October 20 in Acadieville, Kent, New Brunswick, Canada to parents Urbain Daigle and Suzanne Thébaut.[1] Between 1881 and 1906, he lives in Acadieville with his family.

1881: 6 month old Jean is living with his parents Urbain Daigle 24, and Suzanne 35 along with his 2 year old brother Jacques.[2]

1891: 11 year old Jean is living with his parents Urbain 35, Suzanne 45, and brother Jacques 17.[3]

1901: 21 year old Jean and is living with his parents Urbain 45, Suzanne 50, and his brother Jacques. There is also a sister Marie A Daigle age 18. Jean's occupation is blacksmith.[4]

At some point before his marriage, Jean works in a logging camp in the US where he hones his English and saves money. He is a cook, which is often the role taken by blacksmiths who tend the fire.

1906: Elizabeth Guimond catches Jean's eye. She is the daughter of Raphael Guimond and Adelaide Eliza Pineau. The couples weds at St-Louis-De Kent Parish on a summer's day, August 13.[5] Jean and Elizabeth settle in St-Louis. Jean is a blacksmith.

1911: 28 year old Jean and 22 year old Elizabeth have two children: Laura 4, Alyre 2, and Arthur 10/12. Elizabeth's 11 year old brother George is also living with them.[6]

1915 & 1918: ELizabeth gives birth to two girs, Regina and Rita, who die in infancy.

1921: 40 year old Jean and 33 year old Elizabeth have 7 children: 33 Laura 14, Alyre 12, Arthur 10, Alma 9, Albertine 7, Lina 3, Eloi 1. Elizabeth's 18 year old sister Marguerite lives there as well as her 66 year old father Raphael.[7]

1921-31: Over the next 10 years, Jean and Elizabeth have five more chiidren: Aurele, Maria, Antoinette, Yvette, and Cecile.

1940: Jean dies on the 27th of May at the age of 59.[8] and is buried at the cemetery of St-Louis-de-Kent.
