Biography

Henry Terrell had 2 wives Anne or Anna Dabney & Sarah Dyer. It is a mistake that Susannah (Barrett) Terrell has been attached as a child of John & Anna Harris Dabney instead of Anna. I am switching them. And their children.

Their son John Dabney Terrell, Sr. writes his father married 2nd:

(When) he was old and from some unhappy fatuity married his overseer's daughter. - He possessed a very handsome estate and left perhaps one-half to his wife and two younger children. Henry and Patsy. - By his last wife he had Henry and Patsy who married James Osborn, and now lives in Decalb, Ga.

No name is given for this 2nd wife - QUESTION is she the above Susannah (Barrett) Terrell??? No, Sarah Dyer was the Overseer's Daughter and she is listed, along with the two children in Henry's will, of which a transcript of his will has been uploaded'

Ann(a) Dabney is the daughter of John Dabney and Anna Harris. She is the wife of Revolutionary War Veteran, Henry (aka "Harry") Terrell [1] and the mother of The Honorable John Dabney Terrell, Sr. (October 14, 1775 – May 10, 1850), a notable of Marion county, Alabama, and who served both as a State Representative and a State Senator. Researchers Notes

From: FamilySearch.org

Judge John Dabney TERRELL wrote a letter which is extant in the Alabama State Archived. In this letter, which is attached in Sources, He named his father as Captain Henry or Harry TERRELL and his Mother as Ann DABNEY, daughter of John DABNEY ad Ann HARRIS, of Hanover, Virginia.

Harry TERRELL was the Executor of the 1764 Hanover, Virginia will of Cornelius DABNEY 9CZN-BXD. His co-executor was John DABNEY, son of the deceased Cornelius DABNEY; and also the father of Harry TERRELLS future wife Ann DABNEY. Harry TERRELL was also a Witness to this Will.

Susannah Ann Terrell formerly Barrett-11659 was NOT the spouse of Henry Terrell-329 (abt.1730-bef.1798). His two wives are definitively documented and she is not one of them. Therefore, I removed that connection.

However, she belongs somewhere. That said, it appears she needs to be merged with Susannah Dabney Susannah Dabney (1753-1799) as the daughter of William Dabney William Dabney (1707-1773) and his wife Susanne aka Anne Barrett Anne (Barrett) Dabney (1715-1779). Birth years are within 3 years, death dates are 25 years apart, both in Virginia with different locations. However, there is no context for the dates, nor locations for Susannah Barrett-11659 since she is no longer associated with Henry Terrell.
