P.S. To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.
Thanks for checking in and for your offer to help. So far things are going well. I've had experience with other Wikis in the past, so the learning curve has been manageable. Whenever I've had a question about how something works, I've found the answer in the available help documentation and guides.

Thank you for adding a GEDCOM. The GEDCOM does not automatically populate your tree it generates a GEDCOMpare report which you work through either accepting or rejecting all suggested matches, once that has been done, you add any remaining names manually
The GEDCOMpare process guide has tips on how to use the data in your file most efficiently.
For those using Chrome or Opera browsers, there is a tool that can help with the formatting of profiles which have been created through GEDCOM, so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.
I hope this helps! If you have any questions or problems, let me know.
Have fun

Thanks for sharing these links. I have started the process of working through my matches. I've got 1545 suggested matches to evaluate so I suspect this will take some time! I think I've got the process figured out. I noticed that once I review all suggested matches for a nuclear family, I can then add (create) any missing profiles, so I'm focusing on my near ancestors first and I'll work back from there.
I've noticed that some of the suggested matches in my report were pre-checked. Is this because there was enough matching info for the algorithms to confirm the match without my input?
You are very welcome, and yes it can tale a bit of time to get through all of them 🤔.
Yes I think that is correct about the matches, it is always good to find them, it means less work for you to do 😊
Take care and have fun

Thank you for adding your DNA to WikiTree. Getting the Best from DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.
I hope this helps! If you have any questions or problems, let me know.
Take care,

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Cyr-226 If you have DNA to load that will help you find your connections even more quickly. And cousins too! We are probably related as I have the Bourg direct line and am related to many Acadian families. As co-leader of the Acadian project I would be happy to answer any questions and to help you get connected. Welcome to WikiTree. Cindy Cooper
I had been reluctant to participate in shared public trees in the past because I have found them to be poorly sourced and often containing inaccurate information. After revisiting WikiTree and viewing some of the Acadian profiles here, I was impressed to see that this was not the case. I am happy to see that the Acadian Project is working to preserve the integrity of some of these profiles, like that of my 8th great-grandfather Pierre (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Cyr-226). I commend you and the other volunteers for your efforts in this regard.
I will be contributing in the coming months by adding profiles of my missing near ancestors and connecting them to existing profiles in WikiTree. I'll also update my Ancestry DNA and gedmatch info in my profile, once I figure that out. Beyond that I'm happy to contribute to the mission of the Acadian Project wherever I can.
