Sir Adrian Herbert Curlewis, CVO, CBE was an Australian Barrister and later District Court Judge who had been a captain in the Second World war, and a Prisoner of War at Changi and the Thai-Burma Railway. He also became a sports administrator.

WEDDING REPORT. CURLEWIS—CARR. The marriage of Miss Beatrice Maude Carr, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs S. H. Carr, of Cremorne, to Mr. Adrian Curlewis, only son of Judge Curlewis and Mrs. Curlewis, of Mosman, took place last night at St. Philip's Church Hill. The Rev. D. Davies performed the ceremony, and the church was decorated with pink and blue hydrangea and agapanthus. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a bouffant gown of ivory georgette and tulle. An old family veil of tambour lace formed her train, and she wore a veil of cut tulle caught to her head with orange blossoms. She carried a sheaf of golden gladioli, with trails of frangipanni and stephanotis. There were four bridesmaids—Miss Marjorie Carr, sister of the bride and the Misses Primrose Malcolm, Joan Bobart, and Marcia Pockley. Thev wore peacock frocks of eau-de-nil chiffon, with picture hats of crinoline straw to match, and carried armlets of multi-colourod gladioli tied with green ribbons. Mr. John Mant was the best man, and Mr. John Ralston, Dr. Chenhall, and Mr Pete Hunter the groomsmen. The reception was held at the Ambassadors, where Mrs. Carr received the guests in a gown of pink georgette studded with diamante, and a pink hat. Her posy was of pink carnations. The bridegroom's mother (who is well known as the authoress, Ethel Turner) was in delphinium blue georgette, and wore a beige hat. She carried a bouquet of golden roses. The bride left for the honeymoon wearing a delphinium blue ensemble and a blue hat to match.
