MARRIAGE NOTICE. CURLEWIS—TURNER.—April 22, 1896, at St. John's Church, Gordon, by the Rev. R. Raymond King, M.A., Herbert Raine Curlewis to Ethel Sibyl Turner, second stepdaughter of Charles Cope, of Gordon.

WEDDING REPORT. CURLEWIS—TURNER. The township of Gordon was quite gay on the 22nd of April, when in the little church the Rev. R. Raymond King conducted the marriage service uniting Mr. H. R.Curlewis, B.A., LL.B., barrister of New South Wales, to Miss Ethel Turner, eldest daughter of Mrs. Charles Cope, of Bukyangi. The bridegroom was accompanied by Dr. Maitland as best man, and the bride, who was given away by her step-father, Mr. Charles Cope, was charmingly dressed in soft white silk with chiffon draperies, a spray of orange blossoms under the long tulle veil, which was fastened by a gold star, and she carried a lovely bouquet of bridal flowers. Four bridesmaids were in attendance — the Misses Lillian and Rosie Turner (sisters of the bride), Miss Eyre Curlewis (sister of the bridegroom), and Miss Marian Sargood. They were dressed alike in toilettes of cream crepon and white satin, dainty fichus of cream chiffon, and cream-tinted picture hats trimmed with white satin. Their bouquets of yellow and white chrysanthemums were tied with yellow streamers, and the groud really formed what is so often described as "a very pretty wedding." After the ceremony the bridal party and guests adjourned to Bukyangi, where Mrs. Charles Cope held a reception, and later Mr. and Mrs. C. Cope entertained their friends in a large marquee erected on the lawn, and gaily decorated with flags. The company present included Mr. and Mrs. F. Curlewis, Dr. Mrs. and the Misses Barry, Mr. and Mrs. Eiine, the Hon. J. H. Carruthers, Mrs. Curnow, Dr. and Mrs. Antill Pockley, Mr. H. C. and Miss Pockley, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Sargood, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Creed, Mr. and Mrs. Lindsay Thompson, Mr. Mrs. and Miss Christian, Miss Daintrey, Captain and Mrs. Taylor, Mr. and Mrs.T. Laby, Mrs. and the Misses O'Brien, Mr. Leslie Curnow, Mr. S. Mack, Mr. W. Steele (Melbourne), Mr. A. E. Uther, and Mr. H. Wolstenholme. Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Curlewis set out on their honeymoon amid a shower of rice and rose petals and the heartiest good wishes of their many friends: The bride's going-away dress was a grey tweed tailor-made costume, with hat to correspond.
