Pamela E. Owens was born 9 Sep 1953 at Ft. Lewis' Madigan Hospital, Dupont, Pierce, Washington, USA. Three years after her mother's first husband, Paul E. Pointer Jr., died in a plane crash, her mother married her second husband, Jerry Eugene Owens. She was adopted by her stepfather on 8 Jun 1963 in Bellingham, Whatcom, Washington, USA, however, that occurred with falsified paternal information, so the adoption is void.
She spent approximately 40 years in Computer Science and Information Systems Design. She has four children and eight grandchildren, one which she raised.
She ended up studying DNA because she found out, right before she turned 60 years old, that the person she had been told all her life was her father (Paul E. Pointer Jr.) was not. Her mother, Claire (Lawson) Pointer Owens, took this secret to her grave, but second husband Jerry blurted out the truth during a family argument. Three of her brothers supported her efforts by DNA testing to find the truth, which confirmed that she was not their full sibling, although all three brothers were full siblings. She spent 3 years tracking down her biological paternal family. She says, "They are so precious to me! I now have six 1/2 siblings on each side of my family for a total of 12! Isn't life surprising?" After she met her paternal siblings she legally changed her surname to Culy.
Since learning all she needed to find her paternal family, she decided she should use those newly acquired skills to help others, so she became a volunteer DNA Search Angel and Adoption Angel.

Pamela's half-siblings on her paternal-side are:

  1. Karen L. Culy b. Jul 1944
  2. Kathleen A. Culy b. Jul 1947
  3. Kris L. Culy b. Apr 1949
  4. Kevin Suzanne b. Jan 1951
  5. Robert R. Culy b. Mar 1953
  6. Kendra J. Culy b. Jun 1955

Hi Pamela,

Your England Leaders are completing the six monthly check in with all team members. I wanted to thank you for your work on English Profiles. These are unprecedented and difficult times, and we understand as Project Leaders that your situation may have changed somewhat in the last few months. What we are all able to/ wish to contribute on Wikitree has changed. Please let me know if you are happy with your current role and team choice or if you wish to do something additional or different. Thank you again on behalf of all the project leaders for everything you do!

Kindest Regards, Amy Utting

Hi Amy!

Due to my role as an Adoption Search Angel I haven't had time to participate in the England project for quite some time now. I request that I be removed from the rolls. I do thank the mentors for all that they taught me. I'm a far better researcher from completing the Pre-1700 Orphan Trail! Kind regards, Pamela Culy

Hi Pamela,

That's no problem at all! I'm glad that you're enjoying your work in the Adoption Angels and I hope you continue to do well over there :) You're more than welcome to rejoin us at any time further down the line.

Regards, Amy

Hi Pamela,

I sent you a message a while ago on behalf of the England Project Leaders and have yet to heard back from you. I hope you are well.

One of the requirements of membership in the England Project is that you respond to the six-monthly check-ins.

If I don’t hear from you in the next week or so I’ll assume you no longer wish to be in the project and go ahead and remove you. You would, of course, be most welcome to rejoin at any time via the G2G sign-up post.

Best wishes,

Susie :-)

Pam-i thank you so much for all you have done for me. You helped me find the answers.

Thanks to you i now know who my bio parents are. You were the only one to figure out my bio dad and we’re able to get a family member to do a DNA test to prove it. You are awesome and I am glad a cousin of mine too ! Janie

Hi Pamela,

On behalf of the England Leaders, I wanted to say a huge thank you for all your contributions towards the project in the past six months as an Orphan Trailer. We've achieved a great deal during this time and we couldn't have done it without you.

What are we doing well, and what would you like to see us doing differently moving forwards?

Please respond to this message via e-mail. I look forward to hearing from you.

Many thanks,

Susie, England Project Leader :-)

Hi Pamela,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, coordinating with others is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Based on your contributions the England Project may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to review other possibilities. Read the goals and tasks of the projects and join those which are a good fit.

Have questions? Ask in the comments section of my profile.

Hi Pamela

As you have been a member of WikiTree for a few weeks now I thought I would check in to see how you are getting on with the site.

Has the New Member How-To  been helpful or left you with any questions?

I am here to help with any problems or queries you may have. Just click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page or send me a private message.

Sometimes links don't work in emails.  If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile. The links will work from there.

Karen ~ WikiTree Messenger

PS If you create separate tags for your surnames, the tags become clickable links to pages of others who want to collaborate about that surname. With the surnames combined in a tag comment, that isn't possible.
