Joseph Crewe was born on the 13th February 1842, in Oldham, Lancashire, England, the eighth child, third son of Welsh born John Crewe (a shoemaker), and Yorkshire born Elizabeth Preston. ^[1][2]

Joseph was christened, along with sisters Sarah Ann and Mary, and brother Thomas, on the 25th March 1842, in St. Peters, Oldham.^[3]

Joseph Crewe died young.

Joseph Crewe passed away less than a month after his christening, in Oldham, Lancashire, England, barely two months old. ^[4]
    Joseph was buried on the 24th April 1842, at St. Mary's Church, Oldham, with William Wells as officiant for the burial. The register lists him as being in his first year, and his abode is stated as "Priors" (which may possibly be meant to be Priory Street, as that is the address of the family across the years), Oldham, Lancaster, England.^[5][6]
