Martha Jane Creel was born on October 26, 1831, in Barnwell, Barnwell, South Carolina, United States, daughter of Levi Creel (1806–1862) and Sinai Sarah Stivender (1801–1888).[1]
Martha (age 18) married Isaac Ramsey William "I.R." Lewis (age 25); son of William Lewis (1800-1840) and Eliza Ennis Sloan (1805-1870); on August 6, 1850, in Barbour County, Alabama.[2][3] They had the following children:
- Mary Ann Lewis Willingham (1851-1886)
- Savanah Jane Lewis Giles (1853-1939)
- James Wallace "Jimmy" Lewis (1857-1932)
- Sarah Frances "Fannie" Lewis Inzer (1859-1961)
- Sinai Emma Lewis Inzer (b. 1861)
- Elizabeth Mendora "Eliza" Lewis (1862-1869)
- William Henry "Willie" Lewis (1866-1912)
- John L. "Johnnie" Lewis (1867-1886)
- Preston H. Lewis (1869-1964)
- Robert J. "Bob" Lewis (b. 1871)
- Charles Montgomery "Charlie" Lewis (b. 1875)
Martha died on June 12, 1913, in Eden, St. Clair, Alabama, United States, aged 81.[1] She was buried in Mount Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery, New London, St.Clair, Alabama.[4]
