Biography
Allen W. Cozart was born about 1845 in Granville County, North Carolina to Allen Cozart & Sarah Rogers. He passed away in 1865 in a Union prisoner-of-war camp.
Allen Cozart, father of Allen, died on 7 Jul 1861 in Granville County, North Carolina, without a will.
On 9 Dec 1861, "We the undersigned met at the residence of Allen Cozart deceased, according to an order of court, and allotted the Negroes of the said Allen Cozart deceased as follows, (viz).....
Lot No. 5 to Allen W. Cozart as follows: Calvin $800, Eliza $200, Lucus $250, No. 2 pays to No. 5 $50, No. 8 pays to No. 5 $25 = $1325.....
given under our hands & seals Month & date shown written. No. 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10 & 12 to remain in common [because these lots are assigned to minor children].

Allen W. Cozart, NC Cavalry Co. B, died 28 May 1865 at Point Lookout prisoner-of-war camp, Scotland, Maryland of acute disentery[2]
