Sorry to say, but I have not been very active, Mary. More focused on US Black Heritage Project. I believe I should leave Southern Colonies for now and return when Black Heritage is less urgent.

Hi Cossy,

I noticed that you used the Challenge Tracker to track a change during a recent Saturday Sourcing Sprint. Please consider officially joining us for the Saturday Sourcing Sprints. You can find information on the rules and how to join on the Sprints Help page. Let me know if you have any questions.

No pressure, every profile with a source makes our WikiTree better, but only registered sprinters can compete for the winner's badge. Your work will continue to be included in Tracking Sheet's Unregistered total at the bottom of the help page if you do not register.

Your work is appreciated. Thanks for sourcing!

Hi Cossy,

Thanks for having a Big Heart and adopting Orphan Profiles. You will want to read this After adopting orphans FAQ to understand what to do next and it explains the special attention those profiles need.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Hello, Cossy!

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Hi, Cossy!

We are so happy you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.

Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.

Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.

Hello!

At WikiTree we use our own names on our profiles or we use specific words that work with our privacy system. If you would like to "anonymize" your name, you can use Anonymous or an initial for either your first or last name, but not both, please. If your "alias" is truly a nickname, you can put that in the Preferred Name field.

Try to put as much of your real name as you feel comfortable making public. Do not use a fake name under any circumstances. We are a friendly community here.

Wiki Genealogists who sign the Honor Code cannot use the Unlisted Privacy Level.

WikiTree is all about collaboration. Other WikiTree members can't collaborate with you if they can't identify you with a member name.

For more information on our Privacy Levels, click the Privacy tab on your profile or take a look at our Privacy help page.

Thanks for visiting WikiTree and be sure to ask for help if you need it!

Thanks for reaching out. I'm overloaded with choices and haven't found a "how to begin" list. My specific goal at present is to add enslaved peoples' names to my enslavers and my daughters-in-laws' enslavers. But WikiTree also looks like the place where I need to add my 35 years of genealogy, so I have to learn the system eventually.

All suggestions are welcome, Cos

Thank you, Cossy, for the note!

If you want to communicate with cousins or others about genealogy (whether or not you want to add profiles on our single family tree), you can upgrade at no cost to the Family Member level at any time by adding your genealogy communication preferences.

Help:Membership.

To do this, click on the upgrade link on either your navigation or profile page.
