Thomas Marion Cozad was born on 29 August 1859 in Ohio, USA. He was the son of Henry Jackson Cozad (1842 - 1883) and Amy (Clark) Cozad (1842 - 1909).

In the 1860 census Thomas (age 9 months) was living in Jackson, Vinton, Ohio, United States.^[1]

When Thomas was about 18 he married Mahala M.Tucker Haley (1855 - 1941) in 1878.^[2]

The couple had 2 children:

1. William Henry Cozad (1879 - 1939)
2. Charity J. Cozad (1889 - 1891).

In the 1880 census Thomas (age 20) was living in Jackson, Vinton, Ohio, United States.^[3]

In the 1900 census Thomas (age 40) was living in Richland, Vinton, Ohio.^[4]
