Biography

Eric Roland Cotterill the son of George T Cotterill & Dora G Cotterill, was born in 1892 in Paddington in the Colony New South Wales, in what was soon to become Australia.^[1]

Eric served in World War I (service number 365).^[2]

In fact Sergeant Eric Roland Cotterill enlisted into the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) on the 21 September 1914. His Next of Kin was listed as his mother, Mrs George S Cotterill of Edward Street, Young, New South Wales. He states he served 3 years as a Naval Cadet and 2 in Naval Reserve prior to the war. His assigned unit the 13th Battalion, D Company embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board Transport A38 Ulysses on 22 December 1914.

2nd Lieutenant Eric Roland Cotterill died on 9 May 1915 and is buried at Quinns Post Cemetery, Turkey.^[3]
