Thomas Cook was born in August 1615 in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England.
Thomas wed Elizabeth about 1638, probably in England just before setting sail for the New World. They had two confirmed children, Thomas Junior Cook, and Elizabeth Cook. There very possibly were more children born to them. [1]
In 1650 Thomas Cook is recorded living in Guilford, New Haven County, Connecticut Colony. [2]
Thomas Cook(e) died on 1 December 1692 in Guilford, New Haven County, Connecticut Colony. [3] He was buried there at Village Green Cemetery. [4]
The inventory of Thomas Cook late of Guilford deceased was taken on by his children on 19 December 1692 and recorded at New Haven. [5] A distribution agreement was made between Thomas Cook Jr and his sister Elizabeth Hall on 13 June 1693.[5]
Possible Second Marriage
It is thought by some, that Thomas wed secondly Hannah (Lamb/Unknown) Haynes Langton (born 1620 in England) on 30 March 1668 in Guilford, Connecticut. He would have been her third husband. They had no children together. However, the marriage date is that of son Thomas Cook Junior and his first wife Hannah Linden/Lindon. Hannah (Lamb/Unknown) Haynes Langton was still married to her second husband in 1668, and she lived in Massachusetts, not Connecticut. The two women seem to have been conflated, and then falsely ascribed to this profile's Thomas Cook as his second wife. If indeed Thomas Cook Sr. ever married a second time, it was definitely someone other than Hannah (Unknown) Langton or Hannah Linden. [6]
