Biography

Eliza Collins is a part of US Black heritage.

Eliza was born in 1902 in Clover, Halifax, Virginia. She was the daughter of Elam Collins and Amanda McCargo. Her father dies when she was small, so she was raised by her mother and stepfather in Richmond, Virginia. She had a marriage that ended in divorce before she married John Willie Leach in Richmond in 1937. By 1940 they had two young daughters and were living in Richmond. Eliza had completed four years of high school; her husband had completed two years of college. She passed away in 1985 in RIchmond and was buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery and Mausoleum in Richmong.
