Lewis Collett was part of the history of the British Honourable East India Company

Lewis was born in 1771 in Surrey, England. He married Ann Major on 7 September 1800 in Surat, India, ^[1] but sadly she died. Lewis then married Mary Regina Smith at the factory in Surat, India in 1805, but they remarried on 29 March 1812. The 1812 marriage entry reads "1812 March 29th Mr Lewis A Collett and Mary Smith was married in default of a Protestant Clergyman residing at the factory by Captain Egan, Fort Adjutant on the 20th October 1805 and remarried by Rev A. Burrowes on 29th March 1812. ^[2]Lewis passed away in 1843 and was buried in Back Bay, Bombay.^[3]

Probate granted in London, England on 28 March 1900.^[4]
