Biography
Mary Elander was born 8 July 1834 in South Carolina. She married Alexander Atkins 14 August 1853 in Fayette County, Alabama. Something is wrong with the 1880 Census, it shows Millie as being mother, which she is the mother of Alexander Atkins, but he is not on the same page. Somehow the family has been split apart. Alexander Adkins is listed on the 1880 Lamar, AL p8D T17 R16, but his wife (Mary E. Adkins), his children (Burtie Adkins & Mary T. Adkins) and mother (Millie Adkins) are listed on 1880 Lamar, AL p15C T17 R16. Mary Elander Coleman Atkins passed away 1923 in Lamar County, Alabama. She is buried at Ebenezer Methodist Church Cemetery, Fernbank, Lamar County, Alabama. [1]
