Biography

European Aristocracy
Roger Clare was a member of the aristocracy in England.

Roger, son of Richard and Amice de Clare,[1] married Alice de Dammartin (no issue).[2]

Research Notes

Estimated Birth Date: Profile had shown "about 1168", when attached as son of Roger de Clare and his wife Maud (St Hilary) de Clare. It was changed to "after 1172" when the parents were changed (Richard and Amice are thought to have married before 1173); changed to "after 1180" because Richard & Amice's heir, Gilbert, was born c1180.

Parents: Son of Richard de Clare and his wife, Amice of Gloucester.[1]

Kathleen/Dallas - any objection if I move him to be son of Richard Clare-651 & Amice? His birth year would need to be revised (to "after 1172" - the date they're said to have married)

Richardson (Royal Ancestry, Vol II, pp 180-182; Magna Carta Ancestry, Vol I, pp 446-448) has Roger m Alice de Dammartin as son of Richard (who is son of Roger & Maud St Hilary).

Could you add your source for him being brother instead of son of Richard de Clare?

Thanks!
