Lois Virginia Clapp was born on 16 Oct 1915 in Gibsonville, Guilford County, North Carolina to Charles Washington Clapp (1894-1933) and Ada Pettigrew (1892-1971).^{[1] [2]}

On the 1920 Census she was 6 years old and lived with her parents and siblings in the Rock Creek Township of Guilford County, North Carolina. She had not attended school.^[3]

On the 1930 Census she was 14 years old and lived with her parents and siblings on Bynum Road in Chatham County, North Carolina. She had attended school and was able to read and write.^[4]

She was married to Robert Gurnie Edmonds on 8 Apr 1939 in Danville, Virginia.^[5] There is no record of them having any children.

On the 1940 Census she was 24 years old and lived with her husband as lodgers on West Maple Street in Johnson City, Washington County, Tennessee. Her occupation was "redrawer" in the "rayon mill" industry. She had completed 7th grade.^[6]

She passed away on Christmas Day, 1945 in Gibsonville, Alamance County, North Carolina due to "cardiac failure". Her residence at the time was in Johnson City, Tennessee.^[2] It's likely that she was visiting relatives for Christmas. She was buried at Pine Hill Cemetery in Burlington, Alamance County, North Carolina.^[7]
