" He was on 11 June 1729 recommended to the Governor to be appointed surveyor of the south part of Spotsylvania County. He was appointed a justice of King William Couny, 17 Oct 1741 and sheriff 13 June 1750. His widow continued to operate the ferry over the Pamunkey River at Claiborne's."
