George A. Christopher was born about 1822 in Abbeville District, South Carolina. He married Jane Adeline "Addie Jane" Mathews in Abbeville District on November 18, 1841. They had seven children: Ann E., Joseph Henry, James Dubois, Mary Ella, Margaret Lucretia, Sarah Jane, and Martha Agnes.
"In Abbeville District, on Thursday, the 18th Nov. by the Rev. David Humphreys, Mr. G. A. Christopher, to Miss Jane Mathews, and all without one drop of ardent spirits. (verse)"[1]
George patented 84.5 acres near Glendora, Mississippi on April 25, 1857 and purchased 320 acres on July 10.

By virtue of sundry writs of Fieri Facias to me directed, I will sell at Abbeville Court House, within the legal hours of sale, on the first Monday and Tuesday in February, the following property, to wit:
At the residence of G. A. Christopher on Tuesday, the 8th February next, 1 Bay Horse, 1 Buggy, 1 Rockaway, 1 One Horse Wagon, 3 Cows and Calves, Household and Kitchen Furniture, with other property, levied on as the property of G. A. Christopher, ads. A. J. Clinkscales, and others."[5]
He followed his brothers John and Samuel to DeSoto Parish, Louisiana in 1859. In 1860, the family moved to Floyd, Louisiana.
