Son of Ruben Lee Childs and Lillian Shipley.[1]
His father appears to have been an itinerant preacher.
In 1920 Floyd was age 5, single and black. He is found as Floyd Chiles, in Mercer County, Kentucky. His father R H Chiles was age 35, born in Kentucky. His mother Lillie Chiles was age 36, born in Kentucky. His sister Mattie L. Chiles was age 4. His brother Thomas Chiles was age 1.[2]
In 1930, as Loyd Childs, he was in his parents' household in Somerset, Pulaski, Kentucky. Reverend R L Childs was age 45, b Kentucky. His wife Lillie was age 44, b Kentucky. Son Loyd Childs was age 15, b Kentucky. Daughter Madeline was age 14 b Kentucky. Son Thomas Childs was age 11, b Kentucky. Son George Childs was age 8, b Kentucky. Daughter Lillian B. Childs was age 4, b. Kentucky.[3]
Berdella Robinson, daughter of Abner Evans and Nannie Turner, married for the second time on 2 Feb 1938 to Floyd Weaver Childs in Jeffersonville, Clark, Indiana. Floyd was b 6 Jul 1914 in Louisville, Ky. to Ruben Lee Childs and Lillian Shipley.[4]
Floyd Wearn Childs, son of Reuben Lee Childs and Lillie Shipley, married Frances Eugenia Jackson on 5 Jun 1946 in Lancaster, Garrard, Kentucky. Floyd's estimated birth year was 1915. Frances was age 27, b 1919, daughter of Robert Jackson and Carrie Hughes.[5]
Rev. Floyd W. Childs, black, minister, age 35, was in 1950 living in Taylor County, Kentucky with wife Elizabeth, age 27.[6]
According to his father's obituary, Floyd was living in Los Angeles in 1976.
He died in Los Angeles in 1998.[7]
