Biography

In the 1860 census, "Mary", age 5 and born in Wisconsin, lives with her parents Peter C. and Josephine Chavet on the family farm in Roxbury township, Dane County, Wisconsin, along with 4 other siblings. Her grandparents, Peter F. and Catharine Chavet own the farm and live there also, listed as a separate family. ^[1]

In 1870, "Marie", 15, attends school and lives with her parents on their farm in Roxbury, Dane, Wisconsin. ^[2]

In 1880, the family has moved to farm in Thayer county, Nebraska. "Mary", age 24, is single. ^[3]

Mary married Stephen Bethscheider in 1880.^[4] By 1885, they have 3 children. Stephen is a blacksmith and was also born in Wisconsin. They are both age 29. Mary's sister Amelia lives with them as a domestic servant. ^[5]

She died in 1890. ^[6]
