John was the son of John Chauncy and Anne Leventhorpe. He was his father's main heir, and was said in his father's Inquisition Post Mortem to be 27 or more in 1479, pointing to a birth date of about 1452. His birth place was probably in Hertfordshire, where his father owned property.[1][2][3][4]
John died on 8 June 1510 and was buried at Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire.[1][2][4][5]
Research Notes
Burial Place
Sir Anthony Wagner's article on the Harlakenden ancestry gives John's burial place as Yardley (also known as Ardeley), Hertfordshire.[3] Other sources give it as Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire.[1][2][4][5]
