Ann was born about 1837 and christened in Hollym, Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom on 21 June 1837. She is the daughter of John Charter and Frances Atkinson[1].
In 1841 she was 4 living with her parent and four siblings[2].
In 1861 she was 22 single, living with her parents at Brandesburton, Yorkshire East Riding, England, United Kingdom[3]. The rest of the family appear to be missing but are the next census page c.f. Eliza Charter (abt.1838-).
In 1881 she was still single living as housekeeper to her 76 year old widowed father at Main Street, Brandesburton, Yorkshire,Yorkshire East Riding, England. Her sister Eiza, also single, was present.. [4].
In 1891 she was 51 still living with her widowed father but they now had a female domestic looking after them.[5].
