Biography

Elizabeth was born on 27 May 1850 in Harvey, Western Australia.[1][2] She is the daughter of Thomas Chapman and Selina Gardiner.

She married Henry Doust on 1 May 1872 at Bunbury.[3][4] They had ten children in 22 years.

BRIDGETOWN. Feb. 20.-The death occurred at Bridgetown on February 16 of Mrs. Elizabeth Doust, relict of the late Henry James Doust, who was one of the early pioneers of the district and for many years chairman of the local road board. The late Mrs. Doust was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas George Chapman and was born near Bunbury 88 years ago. She has resided in Bridgetown since her marriage 66 years ago. She leaves a grown-up family of eight sons and daughters, 32 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Up to a few years ago she took an active interest in the Red Cross Society, St. Paul's Ladies' Guild, and the Bridgetown Agricultural Society. One of her sons was killed at Gallipoli. The funeral took place on Friday afternoon when a very large num ber of residents attended to pay their last respects.[5]
