Biography

Elizabeth was born on either the 1st of November or the 1st of December 1872 at Lady Cross near Mousehill (birth certificate is not clear for the month), and she was the daughter of Jesse Chalcraft and Anne Bridger.^[1] Here's a link to a map that shows this area.

She was baptised in the District of Milford (Surrey) on the 12th of January 1873. The church register provides evidence that her parents were the same Jesse Chalcraft & Anne Bridger, whose abode was recorded as "Lady Cross".^[2]

On the 6th of July 1893, Elizabeth Jane Chalcraft (a spinster age 21 years) married Frank Herbert Collins - a bachelor of the same age. Their marriage was solemnized in All Saints Church at Witley and witnessed by two of her siblings - Jesse James Chalcraft and Edith Emily Chalcraft. Her father was recorded as Jesse Chalcraft - deceased.^[3]
