"The Mayflower was the now-famous ship that carried the Pilgrims, English separatists looking for freedom from religious persecution, from Southampton, England to Plymouth, Massachusetts in 1620. The ship departed England on September 6 and would sail for 66 days. The journey was hampered by disease, which would claim two lives, before dropping anchor inside the hooked tip of Cape Cod on November 11. The ship was originally set to make landfall at the mouth of the Hudson River, but had sailed off course as winter approached. The passengers all went ashore on March 21. The Mayflower, a privately commissioned vessel, left for a return trip to England on April 5. The Mayflower was likely dismantled for scrap lumber after the death of her captain, Christopher Jones, in 1622." See:"The Mayflower"
One hundred two passengers set off from England about the Mayflower, together with a crew (25-30), Captain Christopher Jones, master. Some 27 of the passengers are said to have been members of the the separatist Leiden congregation. (Source: Mayflower Passengers Wikipedia.
The majority of the passengers who completed the voyage became the settlers of Plymouth Colony. At least two children were born on board. These were Oceanus Hopkins and Peregrine White. The new world was harsh and unforgiving--about half of the emigrants died in the first winter.
On April 5, 1621, the Mayflower departed Cape Cod for its return voyage to England.
The list that follows calls out the names of the passengers who made the voyage aboard The Mayflower.
