Categories: Lords of Parliament in the Peerage of Scotland

The Lordship was created during the reformation of Parliament by James II between 1451 and 1454. James, concious of the costs being born by some of his Barons in attending to the duties of State created a division amongst his Barons and removed the compulsion to attend Parliament from a number of "minor" Barons.

The more powerful Barons were raised to what we know as Peers. Lord Hay of Yester was one of these.
