Mary Cain, b. 1837 married John Smith in 1860. ^[1]

Her daughter Charlotte married Alexander McDougall; they lived in Portage.

Mrs John Cain (nee McDonald) died at the home of her son in law John Smith in Inverness.

Catherine Cain had a will. In it she left sums of money to:

John Smith, of Inverness, Lot 11

Alfred Smith, Inverness, Lot 11

John Smith, Bloomfield Station

Mrs Alexander McDougall of Portage (Charlotte Smith)

Mr or Mrs Schurman Cain, Summerside

She mentioned two brothers, Benjamin Cain of Goff's Bridge, and Augustine Cain, of Lot 8, PEI.

Alonzo Foley of Bloomfield Station was one of the executors, he declined; James H. Gregor of Brackley Beach declined. Frazer McDougall of Bloomfield remained as executor. ^[2]

Research Note

The Mary Cain in Summerside, household 333, pg 75 in 1881 was Mary Hillson or Hilson, wife of David Cain.
