Catherine Cain and James McDougall were married on 31 Dec 1890 ^[2]

In the 1901 census, Catherine McDugall was living in Lot 7 with her husband James, a blacksmith b. 1862 and three sons, Edward (1891), William R. (1894), and Walter L. (1896). There is also a girl with name transcribed as Ella McCain, described as adopted child. This is probably Catherine's youngest sister, Effa M. Cain.

In the 1921 census, James, Catherine, Roy (26) and Horace (11) were living in Greenshill, Lot 8. Her brothers George and Charles Cain were living in the next household.

Catherine married again, to the widower George Horne on 9 August 1934. She died in 1938 at the age of 67. Her obituary in the Charlottetown Guardian was printed under the name Mrs. Robert Horne, and the mistake was noted in a later edition of the paper. At that time, Edward, Ray and Horace MacDougall were living in Springfield West, and her son Leigh in Rumford, Maine. ^{[3] [4]}

Her son William Roy MacDougall died in Upper Nine Mile River, Hants, Nova Scotia in 1985 at age 90. Edward MacDougall died in Alberton on August 21 1985 at age 93. ^[5] Edward was predeceased by Roy and Horace. The surviving brother was Leigh, in Rumford, Maine.
