He is most likely the Augustin Cadotte mentioned in the journal of Alexander Henry, the younger, Elliot Coues, ed., New Light on the Early History of the Greater Northwest: The Manuscript Journals of Alexander Henry and David Thompson, 1799-1814,3 vols. (New York: Francis P. Harper, 1897), 1:188 and passim. It is his brother Laurant Cadotte (Augustin3 , Jean Fram;ois2 , Mathurin\ Rem/) who left a large number of Cadotte descendants in Manitoba.
