Biography

When Marla Jean Cabit was born on November 18, 1930, in Illinois, her father, Stanley, was 31, and her mother, Mary, was 30. She married Donald Norman Schultz on December 24, 1949. They had six children during their marriage. She died on January 24, 2008, in Reddick, Illinois, at the age of 77.

Obituary Funeral services for Marle Schultz, 77, of Reddick, were held Jan. 26 at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes. Pastor John Kiefer officiated. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to be used for Hospice of Kankakee Valley or to other not-for-profit charities. She died Thursday (Jan. 24, 2008) at her home.

She was born Nov. 18, 1930, the daughter of Stanley and Mamie Wilcox Cabit. Her husband, Donald N. Schultz, whom she married Dec. 24, 1949, in Essex, is deceased. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Bonfield. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed hosting the annual picnic for the residents of the William W. Fox Developmental Center. In her later years she enjoyed traveling around the United States and abroad. She also enjoyed birds, tending to her flowers and gardening; visits from her friends at Zion Lutheran Church and friends from Hospice of Kankakee Valley; and having lunch with her brother, sisters, and friends.

Surviving are five sons and three daughters-in-law, Donald and Julie Schultz of Reddick, Clarence "Buddy" and Carol Schultz of Bridgewater, Va., Kenneth and Linda Schultz of Dwight, Dale Gene Schultz of Essex, and Larry Dean Schultz of Odenton, Md., formerly of Coal City; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Tom Salzman of Windsor, Colo.; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Arlene Marcukaitis of Monee, Venita Marek of Bradley; one brother, Kenneth Cabit of Monee; special cousin, Carol Tisher; special friends, Faye Bouk, Meme Hummel, and Phyllis Buza; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are her parents; six brothers-in-law, Wayne, Wilford, Gene, and Gerald Schultz, Adam Marcukaitis, and Joseph Marek; and four sisters-in-law, Thelma Cabit, Ormel Schultz, Lois McLuckie, and Laveda Bainter.
