Ann was born about 1740, probably in Philadelphia or Bucks County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Jacob Buss and Maria Ritter who emigrated from Palatinate Germany in 1732. Ann Buss came to Northampton County before 1759 when she married Jacob Emmerich.
- Research Note - Anna Elisabeth's maiden surname of Buss has been transcribed in error as Beck. Anna Elisabeth Buss was the daughter of Johann Jacob and Maria Catharina (Ritter) Buss who resided in Drylands Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania.
