COLLAPSED IN TAXI [8]
Death Of Mr. G. Bullwinkel
Collapsing in a taxi motor car on his way home last night, George Albert Bullwinkel, a staff employee of the South mine, who resided at 305 Oxide-street, died later in the Hospital.
Following a post-mortem examination to-day it has been found unnecessary to hold an inquest, as a certificate of death due to heart failure will be given.
Mr. Bullwinkel was in a taxi motor car driven by James Lyall Crocker when he had a sudden seizure. He was immediately driven to the Hospital by Mr. Crocker, and Dr. Ramsay Smith examined the man and later pronounced life extinct.
There were no suspicious circumstances attached to the happening. It was known that Mr. Bullwinkel had been suffering from heart trouble and had been treated by Dr. Michell.
This morning a post-mortem examination was conducted by Dr. George (Government Medical Officer). Mr. Bullwinkel was a well-known resident of Broken Hill and for many years had worked on the South mine, where he was employed as a clerk in the store. He was prominent in lodge work, and was on his way home from a lodge meeting when he had the seizure.
Mr. Bullwinkel arrived in New South Wales when about 18 years of age, and worked on Mutooroo Station as a book-keeper for about 13 years. He worked at the De Bavay's mine as a clerk and timekeeper for about 13 years and when the plant closed down eight or nine years ago he went to the South mine, in the store, as a clerk, being employed there at the time of his death. Mr. Bullwinkel was actively connected with friendly society work, having been on the board of the Friendly Societies' Dispensary and secretary of the Western District and Court Stewart Ancient Order of Foresters for many years. He was a member of Broken Hill Lodge, No. 199, of Freemasons, and was made a life member of the Broken Hill Masonic Club Incorpor-ated for services rendered as vice president and director on the board for many years. He leaves a widow and grown-up family of one daughter (Miss Vivian Bullwinkel) and one son (Jack Bullwinkel). A lodge of sorrow will be held at the Temple, Oxide-street, to-morrow, commencing at 3.15 p.m. The funeral will take place to-morrow, leaving his late residence, 305 Oxide-street, off Thomas-street, at 4 p.m. The re- mains will be interred in the Church of England Cemetery. Fred J. Potter and Son have charge of the funeral arrangements.
