Eric Ainsworth Buckingham was born on January 7, 1909 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, son of George Emberson Buckingham (1862–1946) and Mary Bridgit Robinson (1869–1916).

Eric (23) married Avis Rita Healey (23) (born in 1909 in Bairnsdale, Victoria; daughter of Frederick Healey and Alice Maud (Ray) Healey) in 1933 in Victoria.^[1] Together they had two children.

Eric enlisted in the Australian Army on the 30th Jan 1942 in Bruthen, Victoria. He served as a Signalman during World War II with the Lines of Communication Units. He was discharged on the 17th January 1947. ^[2]

Eric died on June 24, 1996 in Bairnsdale, Victoria, aged 87 and was buried in Bairnsdale Cemetery, Bairnsdale, East Gippsland Shire, Victoria, Australia with a death date of 24 June 1996.^[3]
