David graduated from high school in Ludington, Michigan. It is believed that he attended college in Michigan, possibly Michigan State where he majored in Chemistry or Engineering and played football.
David and his wife, Cora Lee (McMurray) Buck lived in Nashville, TN, where David was an engineer for the Tennessee Highway Department. The family later moved to Oak Ridge, TN where David worked on the Manhattan Project.
David and Cora had 7 children: Jane (Female, born 03/13/1930), Frances Wilson (Female, born 02/01/1934), David (Male, born 09/05/1936, Elizabeth (Female, born 11/19/1940), Samuel William (Male, born 12/02/1943), Mary Ann (Female, born 06/29/1947) and Virginia Lee (Female, born 03/26/1952)
David, Cora and their 5 younger children later moved to Seneca, IL. David's alcoholism and mental illness led to his being institutionalized (sometime after 1956) where he remained until his death in 1968. After David's institutionalization, Cora moved back to Oak Ridge, TN with her 3 youngest children, where she remained until her death in 1993.
