Biography

This profile is part of the Brown Name Study.

Edward Browne was born on September 9, 1570 in Suffolk, England.[1]

Edward (21) married Jane Leids (18) (born in 1573 in Inkberrow Parish, Worcestershire; daughter of Thomas Leids and Jane (Gibbs) Leids) in 1592 in Inkberrow, Worcestershire. Their children were:

Edward died after 1610 in Inkberrow, Worcestershire, England, aged about 39. He was buried in Astwood Cemetery, Worcester, City of Worcester, Worcestershire.[1]

Research Notes

Edward and wife were previously attached as the parents of Ann (_______) Hawkes (abt.1595-1669). Her connection was based on a reference to her son John as a cousin of Thomas Brown (claimed by some to be the son of Nicholas Brown). The details of their "cousin" relationship are not known. In addition, there is no Thomas named in Nicholas' will, and so his connection to this family is disputed as well.

So is this a listing for a son of Edward Browne?

The FindaGrave reference indicates that Edward was buried at Astwood Cemetery. Is this confirmed by any citable sources? If so, could Category:Astwood Cemetery, Worcester, Worcestershire be added to this profile? TIA.

The following data is for an update for the purpose of connecting Thomas Brown of Lynn to his Father Nicholas son of Edward Brown.

All you need to see the Evidence. I gave two sources for his parental lineage. (also not all experts are correct in their "opinions" could be drastically incorrect and in this case I do believe I am correct). Sorry I am not able to share the data that way. I sent a direct link and here it is again: It is a public link for all those who have a free Ancestry account: https://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer/collections/23652/images/dvm_GenMono005691-00072-0?pId=71 Called: A history of the Walter Palmer family of Stonington, Connecticut, Brown pg 72. BY Brown that lists his lineage. Here is the other free direct source link only available for people who make free accounts! https://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer/collections/61175/images/colonialfamiliesii-001508_555?ssrc=pt&treeid=163277768&personid=202134544458&hintid=&usePUB=true&usePUBJs=true&pId=450041511 Called Colonial Families of the USA, 1607-1775 for Thomas Browne, Colonial Families of the United States of America, Volume II, Newhall Family pg 555. https://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer/collections/11929/images/dvm_GenMono001435-00084-0?ssrc=pt&treeid=163277768&personid=202220952106&hintid=&usePUB=true&usePUBJs=true&pId=165 Source for this link Lamont-Eldredge family records Lamont-Eldridge family records, pg 166. https://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer/collections/61157/images/46155_b290290-00206?ssrc=pt&treeid=163277768&personid=202123933003&hintid=&usePUB=true&usePUBJs=true&pId=2960746 North America, Family Histories, 1500-2000 for Edward Brown, S.Straats, Genealogy of the Straats Family pg 186. And it states " Thomas Brown born of Lynn, and his father is NICHOLAS BROWN." Thoma's wife Elizabeth and his brother Perserve were mentioned in the WILL. The Brown family, the Newhall family and the Hawkes family all knew each other and it states so in the sources, that Mr. Thomas Browne of Lynne spoke of the Hawkes family" in the Brown Geneology. So those are circimstances put two and two together, they are all related, as they called each other "FAMILY" researched by expert Cyrus Henry Brown. Also in the Hawkes Geneology "to see the Hawkes connection to THomas BRown of Lynn, my grandfather", Source Link: https://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer/collections/2496/images/42521_b158314-00337?ssrc=pt&treeid=163277768&personid=202123930108&hintid=&usePUB=true&usePUBJs=true&pId=29905 Source for: New England, The Great Migration and The Great Migration Begins, 1620-1635 Great Migration, Vol 3, G-H pg 255. Please see the VERY IMPORTANT disposition provided by Thomas Brown about his "COUSIN" John Hawkes, who happens to the son of Adam Hawkes" My other family you have connected within this very wikipedia. That is strong evidence of the family connection. Provided 5 Published written by family bibles and experts that he is the son of Nicholas Brown. If you are going to let one expert put down and sabatoge this connection so be it, but he will remain connected in my own family tree and I will have to have other experts evaluate this evidence. If you can please add these 6 sources to his Bio, I would be grateful. Thank you. Also here is the wikitree link of the Hawkes Family who is also connected to my NewHall Family and my Brown Family as evidence of the connection. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Browne-548 please note John Hawkes, son of Adam... the cousin of My Thomas Brown of Lynn. Evidence that the family knew each other just as the expert stated as Thomas Brown calls him "COUSIN" in his deposition stated in that published book link I just provided. Thomas Brown calls him a cousin so that means they ARE family and it also means he is of the same Brown family as referenced by the published family bibles provided in the links above.
