He attended King's School Sydney from 1907 to 1910. He attended Agricultural College at Bathurst and won the Farrer Prize. He was a station hand on the family property. He enlisted in WWI S/N 197 and served with the 5th Light Horse, C Squadron and embarked from Sydney on 21/12/1914 on the Persic.
On 28/6/1915 the British attacked at Cape Helles and the forces at Anzac had to make a diversion to keep the Turks on their sector occupied. It is assumed he was killed during this diversion. Another trooper from the 5th was killed at the same time. He was Killed in Action and was buried in Anzac Cove in a Turkish trench near the top of Harris Ridge near Chatham's Post. Another record says he was left unburied then in the first week of December he was buried near Wilson's Lookout.
