Footnotes

Article from Lithgow Mercury: "Died At His Home Although he had been in ill-health for a considerable time, the sudden death this morning of Mr. Albert Crossland Brown came as a distinct shock to his family and friends. Mr. Brown passed away at his home in No. 6 Ordnance-avenue, and he was 66 years of age. Born at Cudal, he came to Lithgow in 1915. He was a foreman at the Hoskins blast furnace until it closed and then went to the Steelworks Colliery where he was ambulance officer until his retirement about six years ago. Because of his occupation, he was known among workmates as 'Doc Brown'. During the war, he was a very keen member of the N.E.S., and during his lifetime was of a most charitable disposition, always being willing to help anyone in need. His hobbies were shooting, fishing and gardening and his main interests lay in his home and family. Deceased is survived by his widow, Mrs. Catherine Brown, two sons, Ron and Reg. of Lithgow; a daughter, Jean (Mrs. G Evans, Lithgow), seven grandchildren; three brothers, Jack (Lithgow), Bill (Cobar) and Roy (Sydney), and two sisters, Mary (Mrs. Murphy, Sydney) and June (Mrs. McCudden, Sydney) to whom sympathy will be extended. The funeral has been set down for Wednesday afternoon at 2.30 and interment will take place in Bowenfels cemetery. Wood and Wood have charge of the arrangements."

Albert's death notice in Lithgow Mercury: "BROWN.-The relatives and friends of Mrs. Catherine Brown and family, of 6 Ordnance-Avenue, Lithgow, are respectfully requested to attend the funeral of her dearly loved husband and their dear father, the late ALBERT CROSSLAND BROWN, to leave St. Paul's Church of England, Lithgow, after a service commencing at 2.30 p.m. on WEDNESDAY August 5, 1959, for interment in Bowenfels cemetery."
