Roscoe Conkling Brown Jr. served as a US military pilot during World War II. He was a squadron commander of the 100th Fighter Squadron of the 332nd Fighter Group.He was one of the “Documented Original Tuskegee Airmen.” The Tuskegee Airmen were known for heroic combat service in support of Allied Forces in the European Theater. They served with the 332d Expeditionary Operations Group and the 477th Bombardment Group, both largely Black units of the United States Army Air Forces.[1]
Roscoe Conkling Brown born 9 Mar 1922, son of George and Vivian (Kemp) Brown. His father, born as George Brown and had changed his name to honor Roscoe Conkling (name change is unsourced), a strong supporter of the rights of African Americans during Reconstruction, was a dentist and an official in the United States Public Health Service. His mother was a teacher.
