Samuel Broadnax served as a US military pilot during World War II. He was one of the “Documented Original Tuskegee Airmen.” The Tuskegee Airmen were known for heroic combat service in support of Allied Forces in the European Theater. They served with the 332d Expeditionary Operations Group and the 477th Bombardment Group, both largely Black units of the United States Army Air Forces.
Samuel Levi Broadnax was born September 24, 1925 in Kansas City, Wyandoote County, Kansas. He was the son of John Broadnax and Cora Stewart.

Samuel Broadnax was the author of Blue Skies, Black Wings : African American Pioneers of Aviation published in 2007 by Praeger. [2]
He died at the age of 84 on October 7, 2009 in Sacramento, Sacramento, California.[3] and is buried in Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, California.[4]
